Elections & Mirror Updates

Elections

Elections will be held during our normal meeting time on April 29th (2 weeks from now). As per our constitution every position can be ran for. An interest form will be sent out next week. I’d also encourage talking with myself or another board member to indicate interest or if you have any questions.

The positions that can be ran for:

• President
• Vice President
• Treasurer
• Secretary

Incumbent board members will be running for all positions but Treasurer.

I realized I’ve never really made an official announcement about the mirror apart from discussion at meetings.
I’m excited to report lots of progress!

We are mirroring two new distros; EasyOS and Fatdog64 Linux (Puppy Linux Derivatives) thanks to @danielle-esposito

As it stands, we are in the process of registering as official mirrors for all of the other projects that we mirror

We also have a new index page built by @scoreoutofbounds - https://mirror.lug.umbc.edu/

And if you aren’t already, feel free to set us as your mirror! You can look up how to do that per-distro.

Pending some funding from the university we are looking to expand our server with a separate storage array giving us the capacity to mirror a bunch of new projects! If everything goes to plan this should be completed by the end of the semester.
