Elections & Mirror Updates
Elections Elections will be held during our normal meeting time on April 29th (2 weeks from now). As per our constitution every position can be ran for. An interest form will be sent out next week. I’d also encourage talking with myself or another board member to indicate interest or if you have any questions. The positions that can be ran for: President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Incumbent board members will be running for all positions but Treasurer.

Trade, sell, or give away your old computers, components, cables, gadgets, etc. If its electronic, it’s fair game. Give your old hardware a new home! Don’t have hardware to bring? No worries, is the perfect opportunity to get a hold of some. Been wanting to start a homelab or try out Linux to revive an older device? This is your chance!

Due to recent infrastructure instability and after careful review, the UMBC Linux Users Group will be undergoing an immediate rebrand and systems overhaul. Effective immediately, we are now the: ☭ Red Star Users Group (RSUG) ☭ In alignment with this change, all club systems will be migrated to a secure, centrally managed environment based on Red Star OS; a carefully curated Linux distribution designed with security, control, and consistency in mind.

Docker 101
Hey Retrievers! Get ready for our cool funded event this semester meaning there will be free snacks :) Tonight’s meeting is Docker 101 presented by @amerrym1 This will be a comprehensive introduction to what docker is and the basics of how it works! Welcome to LUG Spring 2026
Thanks to all those who said hi at involvement fest today! Our first meeting of the semester is happening TONIGHT at 7:15PM We will tentatively be meeting in Sherman 103 - we don’t have a room reservation so this is subject to change For those who are new we will be taking some time to explain what we do as a club. Plus we have some exciting news and progress updates regarding our mirror and server infrastructure.
