Linux User's Group Mirror Server Updates

Hey Retrievers! The Linux User’s Group system administration team has been busy over the summer. We have made substantial improvements and upgrades to our mirror server infrastructure to better server the campus and Linux community. First, we had downtime in July where we worked to expand our servers storage array. We added an additional 36TB (~24TB usable after RAID). With this additional storage space, we are able to better support existing and new distributions.

Linux User's Group Mirror Server

LUG’s Mirror Public Server Enters Production Hey Retrievers! Over the past couple months, Linux Users Group’s system administration team has been working diligently setting up a public repository mirror service. We aim to provide open, reliable, high speed access to a variety of popular Linux distributions for the Linux and open-source community. The mirror server is now entering production, and is open to the general public for use. We support downloading via HTTP(s) and RSYNC (details below). We currently have 8 distributions mirrored (including Debian, Arch, Ubuntu, Mint, etc), with more coming soon! To utilize our mirror server for your distribution, consult the documentation for your distros package manager for instructions on how to set our server as your mirror!

Elections & Mirror Updates

Elections Elections will be held during our normal meeting time on April 29th (2 weeks from now). As per our constitution every position can be ran for. An interest form will be sent out next week. I’d also encourage talking with myself or another board member to indicate interest or if you have any questions. The positions that can be ran for: President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Incumbent board members will be running for all positions but Treasurer.
