Due to recent infrastructure instability and after careful review, the UMBC Linux Users Group will be undergoing an immediate rebrand and systems overhaul. Effective immediately, we are now the: ☭ Red Star Users Group (RSUG) ☭ In alignment with this change, all club systems will be migrated to a secure, centrally managed environment based on Red Star OS; a carefully curated Linux distribution designed with security, control, and consistency in mind.

Hey Retrievers! Get ready for our cool funded event this semester meaning there will be free snacks :) Tonight’s meeting is Docker 101 presented by @amerrym1 This will be a comprehensive introduction to what docker is and the basics of how it works! The Past, Present, and Future of FOSS

As always we will be meeting tonight at 7:15PM in Sherman 103 Tonight’s presentation is on the “The Past, Present, and Future of FOSS” by @Penguin Beyond40 is a grassroots volunteer-network dedicated to bridging the gap from FOSS enthusiasm to FOSS activism. We take a different approach from other groups in the space, focusing on finding creative ways to directly support the technological and social infrastructure that uphold the space. We have multiple in-person chapters across the US dedicated to discussing FOSS issues, educating people, and organizing local community members to use their social and technical skills to contribute to the fight against Big Tech.
